Important Bat Rule Changes for 2018

Updated Wednesday November 8, 2017 by Barrington Little League.

Starting with the 2018 season, Little League has adopted a new standard for bats used in all baseball divisions from single A through Juniors.  Non-wood bats used during the 2017 season will no longer be allowed.  The complete bat rules can be found here on Little League's website, although a summary of the changes is listed below for  Juniors, 50-70, Majors, AAA, AA, and A:

  • All non-wood bats (aluminum, composite, laminated, etc) must bear the USA Baseball logo.
  • The maximum bat diameter has increased to 2 ⅝

Note: players league age 13-16 are likely to play in a Seniors division this season (not Juniors). Seniors baseball requires bats to be marked as BBCOR not USA baseball. The determination of whether 13-16 years olds play in Juniors or Seniors will be made in early March.
